Length:

1 day

Participants

1-4 Persons

The Königskogel is located in the southern Ötztal Alps in the Gurgler Kamm. This ski tour offers magnificent skiing terrain, our route takes us through the Königstal to the Zollhaus and further on to the ridge. Easy block climbing on the blocked east ridge to the summit with a magnificent steep descent to the Toten Boden. Fantastic views of the other Ötztal ice giants - especially of the Granatenkogel with the great north flank.

We either start in Hochgurgl and climb over the Äußere Heide and the Vordere Wurmkar or we use the lifts to the Top Mountain Star and descend over the Vordere Wurmkar to the valley end of the Königstal.

Descent to the hamlet of Poschach at 1800m.

TIP:
If you use the lifts to the Top Mountain Star, you save a good 400 metres of altitude and 3 km of approach and start the day with a 500-metre descent.
TIP 2:
The Königsjoch at 2835m is a worthwhile ski touring destination in its own right. Perfect for skiers/freeriders who want to try out ski touring.
