Schalfkogel 3540m from Langtalereckhütte

Length:

2 days

Difficulty:

Participants

1-4 Persons

Difficult and racy ski summit, with a wonderful steep descent directly to the Gurgler Ferner in the right conditions! Certainly the most rewarding summit in the Langtalereckhütte touring area in terms of skiing. Exciting morning start through the Gurgler gorge. From the summit, great views to the touring mountains of the rear Ötztal, into the Texel Group and marvellous views southwards to the extensive Gurgler Ferner with the Hochwilde as the crowning glory.

Duration:
2-day

Day 1, option 1:
Independent ascent from Obergurgl via the Schönwieshütte and the Gurgler Almhütte to the Langtalereckhütte.
The ascent begins along the ski pistes and continues on the prepared path to the Schönwieshütte. Then follow the piste groomer track marked with poles to the Langtalereckhütte.
Note: Although the trail to the hut from the Schönwieshütte is marked and often groomed, it is not secured against alpine dangers such as avalanches.
It is essential to enquire about the current conditions with us before starting!
The meeting with the mountain guide takes place for dinner at the hut.

Day 1, option 2:
We are also happy to accompany you from Obergurgl. Meeting point is at noon in Obergurgl.
Additional costs: from €250 (for up to 4 people).

Day 1, option 3:
Would you like to climb a summit on the first day?
The Hangerer is practically on the way, and crossing the Eisseekögele would also be an interesting alternative.
Additional costs: from €400 (depending on the number of people).

Day 2:
Early start, short descent to the Gurgler gorge, through this to the Gurgler Ferner and via the Kleinleitenferner and the Schalfkogeljoch to the ski depot. Short summit ridge to the highest point.
Descent via the ascent route or, if conditions are favourable, directly via the Schalfkogelferner and the steep north-east flank to the Gurglerferner. 200m counter ascent back to the hut.
